Who really discovered and claimed the land we live in now. In the late 1400’s a european explorer named Amerigo vespucci decided to see what this “new world” really was that was discovered by christopher columbus.. When he made his first voyage in 1499 he and three other ships set out to find shorter trade routes from europe to eastern asia. Unlike christopher columbus when Amerigo Vespucci reached the americas he did not see how it was possible to only have three continents (asia europe and africa) there had to be more to the world.
Navigator and explorer Amerigo Vespucci, the third son in the family, was born on March 9, 1451, in Florence, Italy. Although born in Italy, Vespucci became a naturalized citizen of Spain in 1505. When his brothers went of to college in Spain. Vespucci went on to learn from his uncle. At the age of twenty another uncle of Vespucci gave him his first job of many. His first job was to go on a mission to Paris in the order of king Louis Xl. This is what was thought to have sparked Vespucci's exploration career. |
